Glenrothes Distillery founded in 1878 although for much of the twentieth century it’s primary function was to produce malt which went into the Cutty Sark blend created by Berry Brothers and Rudd.
In 1987 however the first Glenrothes Single Malt, a 12 year old, was released and since then the distillery has enjoyed a steadily growing reputation for its single malt whiskies.
