Description:
Italy’s famed Piedmont region is home to Sordo Giovanni, a historic family-run winery based in Castiglione Falletto. For over a century, the Sordo family has cultivated Nebbiolo grapes across some of Barolo’s most prestigious crus, combining traditional methods with a deep respect for terroir. Their philosophy emphasizes minimal intervention and long ageing in large Slavonian oak barrels, resulting in classically styled, age-worthy Barolos.
Wine Description
This 2016 Barolo reveals a garnet red hue with subtle brick reflections, characteristic of a wine beginning to show some evolution. On the nose, it offers an elegant and layered bouquet of dried roses, forest floor, cherry, tar, and hints of truffle and spice. The palate is full-bodied and structured, with firm yet integrated tannins, lively acidity, and flavours echoing the aromatic profile—red fruit, licorice, leather, and earthy undertones. The finish is long and refined, suggesting excellent ageing potential. Made from 100% Nebbiolo, this wine shows balance, precision, and the hallmark austerity of traditional Barolo.
