Anthonij Rupert Wine in Franschhoek produces a collection of seven wines which recognises the flower species – the Protea. The Protea is distinctive of the Cape Floristic region, the world’s smallest yet most abundant floristic region.

A beautiful deep ruby, the Protea immediately shows aromatic notes of blackberry, espresso and spice.  The wine is juicy and soft supported by firm tannins with delightful hints of cigar box and sweet almond.  The palate finishes on an earthy and graphite note, with a perfect balance between fruit and oak.  This blend is a versatile choice for food pairings, especially anything on the grill.
