Description
Discover the Fabre Montmayou Malbec Reserva, a standout Argentine red wine that captures the vision of Hervé Joyaux Fabre. Originally from Bordeaux, where his family thrived as wine negociants, Hervé ventured to Argentina in the early 1990s. He saw untapped promise in Mendoza's Malbec grapes amid overlooked heritage vineyards. Rather than follow trends toward newer plantings, he swiftly acquired key sites, starting with a prime 37-acre plot in Vistalba featuring Malbec vines from 1908 on original rootstock.
This commitment expanded quickly. Hervé constructed a Chateau-style winery right on the Vistalba estate and gathered more old-vine lands across regions. A decade later, he established a facility in Patagonia’s Rio Negro area. Today, the family stewards 217 acres in Mendoza—spanning Vistalba, Compuertas, and Tupungato—plus 122 acres in Patagonia at Allen and General Roca. Every bottle stems from these estate vineyards, tended through time-honored practices free of herbicides and relying on native yeasts for fermentation.
Pour a glass to reveal its deep red hue accented by violet shades. The aroma bursts with intensity, layering red cherry fruit alongside spices. On the palate, it unfolds with complexity and balance, weaving in vanilla and chocolate impressions from oak influence. This modern-style Malbec delivers sweet, silky tannins that linger smoothly.
At 14.50% ABV and in a standard 750 ml bottle, this dry Malbec Reserva offers exceptional value at $21.99. It shines alongside grilled meats, game dishes, or assorted cheeses, elevating everyday meals or special gatherings. Whether you're exploring Argentine wines or seeking a reliable red for your collection, Fabre Montmayou Malbec Reserva embodies heritage and precision from Mendoza and Patagonia. Secure a bottle and taste the legacy of preserved old vines in every sip.
